A Little Background

Ann Smith is an exercise maverick who has always espoused a different approach to the conventions of health clubs, gyms and personal trainers who tout the latest fitness craze.

This octogenarian grandmother attributes her novel regimen to training as a classical dancer, then adapting the basic stretch exercises of ballet and modern dance to the non-dancer’s body.

In short, Ann Smith is all about movement.

But more importantly these movements are the kind that everyone can do. Today her classes are full of people of all ages – men and women – many of whom are discovering the benefits of basic stretch exercises that dancers have known for years.

Moving to blogging is a natural extension (pun intended) of Ann’s communication with her audience.

  1. I live in Canada and wuold like to have a video(vhs)copy of Stretching for Seniors. Please advise how I can get one.Thank you,Nancy Ansley

  2. As a 56 year old former dancer and mother of three (ages 12-18) who has not kept herself in condition for the past 25 years, I am so very grateful to have discovered Ann Smiths videos. I am overweight and have some joint (esp. hip) problems — and I hope to use them on a very regular basis.

In answer to the above question, I would suggest checking Amazon.com. I found Ann’s “Moving to Mozart” DVD there; and at Amazon’s Marketplace, I found “Inhale, Exhale.” I think Amazon is your best bet. Otherwise, just search the internet. Good luck.

  3. I have recently purchased 3 of Ann Smith’s DVD’s – Rise and Shine, Moving to Mozart, and her newest one.
I absolutely LOVE them. She is elegant, graceful, and beautiful. The music is wondeful and I have it swirling in my mind throughout the day. I feel relaxed and yet also energized after doing an exercise session with her DVD’s. I am so thankful for these wonderful exercise routines, and I hope that Ann will continue to spread her message of beautiful and graceful movement for many years to come.

    Gracefully moving,
    Caroline

  4. I taught myself Ann Smith’s exercise system in 1969 when I purchased a copy of her book “Stretch.” By 1971 or 72 I had committed the exercise system to memory and I’ve been using it ever since. It is a powerful healthcare tool and I use it a lot. Thanks, Ann Smith , I think you have done some wonderful work.
